The Power of Inclusive Language: Attend the GALA Roadshow

How does language create inclusion? With more than 3 million foreign-born residents from more than 200 countries, New York is home to one of the most diverse populations from every part of the globe which speak over 800 different languages.

Join us in New York City for the inaugural GALA Roadshow which will feature tips, strategies, and best practices on language accessibility and inclusion in education and workplace settings from the language professional’s perspective. The afternoon event will feature presentations by the New York State Office of Language Access, the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, Eriksen Translations, the NYU School of Professional Studies, and the Endangered Language Alliance.

United States Nearly half of all New Yorkers speak a language other than English at home, and almost 25%, or 1.8 million people, are not English proficient. NYC is one of a kind, the lessons learned and best practices developed there can be widely applied across communications contexts, cultural settings, and global workplace settings.
