Feminist Foreign Policy in South Asia

Updated: Nov 26, 2021

In this webinar, experts from across South Asia discuss the "Feminist Foreign Policy" framework in relation to the subcontinent. A "feminist foreign policy" prioritizes gender equality and promotes values and practices that support equal human rights in diplomatic and international relations. Hosted by Stimson and the Kubernein Initiative, speakers Farwa Aamer, Nandita Baruah, Shafqat Munir and Ambika Vishwanath consider how a gender-conscious approach to foreign policy can support security, democracy, and diplomacy in government and international relations more broadly and examine how this approach can make policymaking related to defense, geopolitics, trade, health, and the environment in South Asian countries more inclusive and effective. This webinar offers a valuable perspective on how integrating feminist principles into foreign policy can reshape diplomacy and governance across South Asia. The conversation highlights not only the urgency of gender equality in global affairs, but also the practical ways it can enhance policy effectiveness in areas like trade, health, and environmental strategy. An important initiative for those interested in inclusive policymaking. Pavaj Curte.
